Here are some of my favorite pictures I've taken of animals. I think I'll do some strictly-photo posts, mainly my favorites of certain themes, and just recent pictures of small things that have happened or made me happy! I just love pictures, and I hope whoever reads this does, too!
To start, this is Gertie the Birdie. My hound found her in our yard one day and tried to play with her. She wasn't having it, but she was very friendly, gorgeous and used to people. After walking up and down the street, and convincing her elderly owner to answer her door to the 6'6" red-mohawked, tattooed man who was knocking, my husband returned her home. As a reward we got two dozen fresh eggs, which I quickly turned into tarts, breakfasts and tapioca (recipes I'm sure I'll post eventually).
These are two heffers staring me down as we purchased their friend for a scene in the independent film, Summum Bonum. We drank whiskey on the way up in a cramped truck, took backward directions from a farmer, and ended up at a shut-down weigh station outside of Ritzville, Washington. We were then instructed to follow the man and his truck to his property to pick up the cow. Our rickety borrowed trailer (a shitty one for aesthetic purposes, since the scene was of them stealing the cow, rather than purchasing), we showed up in the middle of no-where lit up with flood lights... turkeys gobbling in the background. His dog whined the whole time, as if he knew we were taking the cow to slaughter, so as I shined a flashlight on the trailer I held the dog with my other hand and told him it was all ok. Long story short(er): our shitty trailer was too small, and after wrenching it off with a forklift, we were able to barrow the farmer's rig and finally arrive to scene at 2:00 AM with an angry cow pacing back and forth behind us.
And this, of course, is my hound, Hunter. When he was young with over-sized paws and ears. He looks sad, but he sure is a happy puppy!
*My photo explanations probably won't be as long in the future... a few of these pictures come with entire posts of their own, which I would have written if I had this blog at the time.
